Payments & Fee Policy

Overview

This page outlines our explanation for patients' payment options depending on their circumstances. 


Bulk Billing

All consults will now attract a gap fee. 


Healthcare and concession card holders, as well as children aged less than 15 years old, will still be bulk billed from 10 am to 3 pm on weekdays. 

There will be no bulk billing on weekends.

All standard weekend consults will cost $76.40 for all patients with a medicare rebate of $41.40paid back to the patient. Longer consults will attract higher fees. Please speak to our friendly reception staff if you have any conserns about billing.


Private Billing

Starting 1st March 2023, our new Private Fee policy will apply.


Private Fees be Charged?

Private Billing with a rebate credited back to the patient will be charged for all consultations at the times below for all patients:

  • Monday to Friday - between 7 am - 10 am
  • Monday to Friday - between  3pm - 6pm
  • Saturday and Sunday - all day (and public holidays).
  • Healthcare and Pension card holders will be bulk-billed between 10am and 3pm on weekdays only.


Who will be Privately Billed

The Private Billing Policy affects all patients including children and concession card holders.


Other Consultations

Some consultations may incur an additional out of pocket fee, which is payable on the day of your consultations. These out-of-pocket fees would be explained before they are charged and are typically related to specific procedures, wound care, and minor surgery.

Payment

Payment on the day of consultation is required with no exception.


How to Pay?

For your convenience we accept several payment methods in the rooms, by post and online:

  • Cheque and Cash
  • Credit Card: VISA, Mastercard, Amex,
  • Electronic other - (Credit Card, EFTPOS, BPay)
  • Website Payments (PayPal, Swipe etc)

Other Fees

Our practice welcomes WorkCover and Traffic Accident Commission (TAC) patients. However, you will be responsible for any fees related to your claim until you have a claim number approved by WorkCover or TAC. 


Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA)

The Australian Government’s Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) provides support to current and former serving members and their families through a range of benefits (including ongoing or one-off payments). for further understanding on how you can apply these benefits to our service and the scope of cover please refer to: http://www.dva.gov.au/benefits-and-payments


Workcover [or your local cover organisation]

Arrangements between our practice and the state government insurance regulator cover patients involved in workplace and motor vehicle accidents.


After payment, you will be issued with a receipt that you can take to your employer for reimbursement. Once approved, we will follow up your claim directly with WorkCover and TAC.


Additional fees

To cover the cost of providing highly skilled staff, supplies and equipment for procedures, our practice has set private fees for procedures based on the length of time, complexity of the treatment, and supplies and equipment required.


All fees will be discussed by the treating GP or one of our team members prior to commencing any procedures.


The cost and administration of travel or other vaccines have set fees based on the specific requirements. Please speak to any of our team for the price of any of our vaccines.


Is there a charge if I need my doctor to sign a form?

Medicare considers some government forms to be eligible for completion during a consultation and can be bulk billed. 


In all other circumstances completing and signing forms will incur an additional fee, which will not be eligible for a Medicare rebate. 


When making an appointment, please let our reception team know which form you want to complete with your doctor to allow enough time and for information about any fees.


Making payment

Our practice accepts payment via cash, EFTPOS or credit and an immediate Medicare rebate (if applicable) is accessible through our payment facility. 


Payment can also be made over the phone by credit card for invoices or non-attendance items. Speak to our team for more information.


Fees should be paid immediately, and accounts not paid on the day will incur a $10 accounting fee. No further appointments can be made while fees are outstanding. If you are experiencing financial hardship, please speak to one of our team at your earliest convenience.

*  All home visits will be charged privately. However, at the doctor's’ discretion they may be bulk-billed if the patient fulfils all of the following criteria: 

  1. Health care card; 
  2. Is housebound; 
  3. And the visit is deemed medically necessary

*** Fee may be waived if patient attends; a $1 surcharge is applicable if posting is required.


Overseas Patients with Non-Reciprocal Agreement

If you are an overseas patient from a country where there is no Reciprocal Health Care Agreement, you are not eligible for Medicare and you are responsible for payment of all fees and services. 


Non-Medicare patients are billed for inpatient and outpatient services.


Reciprocal Health Care Agreement - If you are a visitor from a country where Australia does have a Reciprocal Health Care Agreement (RHCA), you may be eligible for treatment that is deemed immediately necessary for any health problem or injury whilst in Australia. 


RHCA does not cover pre-arranged or elective treatment.
