TeleHealth

What is a Telehealth Consultation?

Some of our General Practitioners offer Telehealth services either via telephone or video conference.

With Telehealth you can have your doctor’s appointment from the comfort of your own home. Telehealth is:

  • safer in a Covid world, and
  • time saving

Telehealth is a Medicare initiative that allows doctors and patients to communicate remotely using online tools like your PC and Skype.

You no longer need to visit the clinic to get medical advice. With telehealth you can talk with your favourite GP whenever you need to, no matter where you are. Of course, some conditions will still be better treated in person – your GP will let you know if this is the case.

Eligibility for a Telehealth Consult

The eligibility for Telehealth has recently changed. You must now have seen any GP from our practice in the last 12 months to be able to have a Telehealth appointment, preferably requesting for telehealth.

Exceptions to this rule are:

  • Infants under 12 months old
  • People experiencing homelessness
  • People residing COVID Lockdown Restrictions.

To claim Medicare rebates, you have to be eligible for telehealth. Your eligibility could be checked by going on to http://www.doctorconnect.gov.au/. Payment would be collected prior to your scheduled telehealth appointment.

TeleHealth bookings can be made on our appointments page or with our friendly reception staff on 02 5114 2676.

Also the COVID-19 Helpline is open daily from 8am to 8pm on 02 6207 7244.

Medicare TeleHealth services are now available to ALL Australians.

To find out more information about telephone consultations and appointments as well as important information regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19) you can visit our dedicated TeleHealth Consultation page.

Booking a Video Consultation

We encourage parents to enquire while booking the appointment. To book a telehealth appointment, follow the below instructions:

  • Book your appointment by phone and inform the Receptionist that you would like it to be via telehealth, or
  • Book Online - Select ‘Telehealth Appointment'.

You will have the option to choose either a video call or standard phone call. If you choose video, you will receive an SMS with the link for the appointment.

If you are a current patient and are interested in arranging a consultation online call our practice. After an Appointment has been made, you will receive reminders for your upcoming Consultation.

Telehealth Setup

The doctor will call you to start the appointment, so please be ready!

Your privacy is essential – so please find a quiet, private place to speak with the doctor.

If you have a PC, camera, microphone, speakers and the internet, you have all that you need.

During Consultation

During our consultation we will conduct a video meeting via your computer, tablet or mobile phone. Be sure your internet connection is stable and avoid moving if using a mobile.

After The Consultation

After the appointment you can pick up your prescriptions or referrals from the clinic. Alternatively, prescriptions can be sent to your local chemist or sent as an e-script to your email address or via SMS to your phone number. And that’s it – anything further will be communicated by the doctor.
